The draft version of the 2021-2025 CED has been published, and the Region 1 Planning Council has asked for public input. We have received a copy of the draft report. In their vision statement they talk about establishing "economic development which improves quality of life while protecting the environment and natural resources".

We think it's important that the Rockton community weigh in on this! You easily provide public comment by calling or e-mailing:

Please indicate you are a member of Rockton Strong, and speak to the dangers that an asphalt production facility create in our area. The leadership team of Rockton Strong has provided a letter encouraging the council to carefully consider environmental issues when examining the issue of economic development. After having read the report, it seems as though the CED focuses on a very global strategic version of economic development. But, if they hear from enough of us, it could very well influence their emphasis on environment OVER minor jobs gains, etc...

So please consider writing or calling before November 15. It's always helpful to show engagement and our dedication to protecting our community!
