UPDATE (JULY 2020)

Given the recent happenings across the world over the past weeks/months, we have recognized that while our cause is imperative to our community and a priority, other issues more pressing have taken space in our consciousness and on the social feeds we communicate on. Likewise, we have paused fundraising efforts for the time being, turning our efforts to spotlighting area businesses that could use the support.

However, we have continued the work behind the scenes. The Board of Rockton Strong has remained committed to the fight of keeping the production of asphalt OUT of Rockton during these past months. We have met regularly (virtually) on a monthly basis and kept the dialogue continuing with Atty. James Meason. We are also gearing up for the court date in July. Here’s some things you should know:

1. LEGAL: Our next court date is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 9 AM. It is unclear at this time whether the hearing will be in person or virtually. Each judge is at the discretion to decide which mode they will pursue for their courtroom. We expect this to be a “touching base” and will let you know the results of this hearing.

2. FUNDRAISING/EXPENSES: We remain committed to providing a transparent view of our financial state. Not much has changed since our last update in March.

To date, donations have totaled $28,124. We have invested over $15,000 in legal costs thus far. Over 93% of funds spent has gone directly to legal costs. The remainder has been spent on organizational filing costs, permits, and insurance.

June expenses were $73:

$11 for Secretary of State filing

$46 for our PO Box

$16 for SquareSpace

As we progress throughout the coming months, we will keep you updated. While 2020 has provided to be difficult, we are confident that there is a victory for our cause ahead…even if that victory comes in 2021. Without your support none of this has been possible. Thank you and stay safe and healthy!
