FINANCIAL UPDATE - FUNDRAISING MILESTONE OF $23,500 REACHED!
Summer is starting to wind down, and our children are getting ready to go back to school. The beginning of the month means it's time for a financial update. Rockton Strong has been doing well these last weeks, and we urge everyone to participate in our RECHARGE 2019 campaign! Thank-you for everything you do:
1. To date, donations have totaled $23,509, with the average donation being $143.35. We have invested over $12,000 thus far in legal costs. Over 93% of funds spent has gone directly to legal costs. The remainder has been spent on organizational filing costs, permits, and insurance. We have a substantial "war-chest" for legal funds, but when the trial starts, those funds will quickly deplete. Unfortunately, it's not time to rest and more has to be done.
2. The legal fight continues. We expect to start moving into the later phases of discovery. We will exchange witness lists and possibly start depositions. Unfortunately, this will be a costly process. Our expert witnesses will be an additional expense. Our next court date is next week, on August 14. There have been some delays with defendants supplying discovery information, so we expect a continuance. The good news is that we don't expect much activity at the quarry until 2020. We've now managed to delay the construction of the asphalt plant by over one year, and with our judicial stay in place, hope to delay it much further! Keep in mind, with every day we delay construction, the chances go up that it will never happen.
4. As a part of our strategic plan, we launched our "RECHARGE 2019" campaign. The campaign focuses on contributors matching their 2018 donation, and seeking out corporate support.
5. Unfortunately, we've decided to cancel our MACKTOWN MADNESS fundraiser on September 14. We've run into substantial logistical problems, and it seemed prudent to cancel this for now. We hate doing this, but we decided that it was most responsible to wait on this until we could put forth a first-class effort.
