A Recent View of the Quarry

During this summer, we've done our best to keep an eye on the quarry located at 10200 N. Main St. This is the north quarry (commonly known as Black's Quarry) and is the location of the approved asphalt plant. Here are our observations:

1. The activity level at this quarry seems lower than it has in recent years. We've talked to some of our stakeholders who live on N. Main near the quarry, and they concur.

2. Activity levels at the south quarry (Rockton Rock Quarry - or also known as the Schlicting Quarry) seems to be the same as in previous years.

As you can see in the aerial photo we've been given, the quarry looks unchanged from last year, as it should! Everyone expected a fully operational asphalt plant to be up and running by this time. Thanks to the support of THIS community, there remains a judicial stay (typically referred to as an injunction) that prohibits ANY construction from taking place. With it being so late in the year, we fully expect the quarry to look the same next year!

As the leaves turn, and the weather cools, continue to enjoy the clean air and water. The REAL fight is just beginning. It may be long, but it's one worth fighting, and it's one we can win.

We've got a head start thanks to YOUR support. If you know others looking to support the fight, please send them here: https://www.rocktonstrong.org/how-you-can-help
